Proof validity Updates
These changes mentioned below apply only to customers presenting CalFresh EBT Card. All other proof remains valid, as long as they comply with current rules:
- Proof must not be expired
- Proof must display applicant’s name (or qualifying person)
- Proof must match information entered in the enrollment
- Proof must be for the program selected

- Starting on Monday, December 13, only valid if documentation is complete, complying with the details mentioned below.
CA CalFresh EBT Card Changes
To stablish eligibility using the CalFresh EBT card through the Street Team channel, from now on, the supporting documentation must consist of:
- Picture of front of the card
- The card must display the applicant’s name (or benefit recipient)
- A purchase receipt, that displays a date that is no more than 30 calendar days prior to the date the application is created.
- The receipt must show the last 4 digits of the card presented as proof
Note: The "Date" requirements for the Notice of Approval for CalFresh Benefits and California Department of Social Services Notice of Action have been temporarily adjusted from "7 calendar days prior to the date the application is received by the TPA" to "30 calendar days prior to the date the application is received by the TPA". Either way, the date requirement for receipts that accompany images of the CalFresh EBT card (Golden State Advantage) will remain 7 calendar days.

Effective Friday, September 9, 2022, the “7 calendar days prior to the date the application is received by the TPA” requirement will be restored for the Notice of Approval for CalFresh Benefits and California Department of Social Services Notice of Action re: CalFresh eligibility documents.
Notice of Approval for CalFresh Benefits
To establish eligibility using a Notice of Approval for CalFresh Benefits document, the document must display:
- The applicant’s name, or the name of the person qualifying for the benefit
- The Notice Date must be no more than 7 calendar days before the date the application is received by the TPA
- A certification period must reflect active CalFresh benefits

Notice of Action re: CalFresh
- To establish eligibility using a California Department of Social Services Notice of Action document, the document must display:
- The NOTICE OF ACTION form identifier
- The applicant’s name, or the name of the person qualifying for the benefit
- Must specifically mention CalFresh
- The Notice Date must be no more than 7 calendar days before the date the application is received by the TPA
