Dependent escalation

Another escalation that is related to the beneficiary’s DOB and SSN is the Dependent’s escalation. Basically, it works as a regular SSN or DOB escalation. The only difference is that the information in question is not the one from the account holder, but the beneficiary’s. If the Dependent’s DOB and SSN proofs are needed, that information will be detailed in the status section:

As you can see, the Dependent SSN proof and the Dependent Birthday proof are required. The proof types for the dependent’s SSN and DOB that will be requested are the same than the ones that we request to the account holders.

The only difference for the dependent’s SSN proofs is that, if they are minors, their SSN card does not need to be signed.

Valid DOB Proofs

The following will be considered valid DOB proofs:

  • Driver’s License
  • State ID Card
  • Military ID
  • Voter Registration Card
  • SSA or State Letter
  • Official Income Documentation
  • Citizenship and Immigration Documentation
  • Military Discharge Documentation
  • Weapons permit
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport

the proof presented must be under the applicant´s name and up to date. The DOB must be printed and not handwritten.

To keep in mind: The Dependent information is mandatory when the School Lunch Program is selected. A warning message will pop up in the Program Selection step, so that the applicant knows that the dependent's information will be requested when the School Lunch program is selected.
