CA - WIC Program - Eligibility Guidelines
Acceptable WIC (Women, Infants & Children) participation documentation must display:
- Program Name: WIC
- The name of the program beneficiary/recipient
- A WIC account number
- An acceptable date for the documentation type
As you will read below, applicants will now be able to provide a snapshot of their WIC Application showing their name and the balance of the WIC account. Alternatively, a register receipt for their last purchase adhering to the guidelines below can also be used as proof of eligibility.
Proof Options
WIC App snapshot
When images of the WIC App screenshots are offered as proof of WIC participation, the images must display:
- the WIC logo
- the WIC account number
- the applicant’s name
- a food balance date range within the most recent year (NOTE: Food balance screen may show a future date, which is acceptable)
- Images of the home screen and food balance screens are required


WIC Cards
When an image of a WIC card is offered as proof of WIC participation, the image must display the WIC account number and must be paired with a grocery receipt which displays:
- A receipt issuance date within the most recent three (3) calendar months from the application received date
- The last four digits of WIC card displayed by the receipt must match the last four digits of the WIC card
- A “benefits expire date” in the future

WIC Food Balance Statements
When an image of a WIC Food Balance Statement is offered as proof of WIC participation, the image must display:
- the WIC logo
- the applicant’s name
- a food balance date range within the most recent calendar year or a future date

Unacceptable WIC Documentation
Images of WIC vouchers and WIC paper folders are not acceptable proof of WIC participation:
