CA - Income qualification
Applicants seeking to qualify by the income-based qualification method based upon their household's total annual gross income and household size must submit official documentation confirming their household income is equal to or less than applicable annual income limits. Household income includes all income received by all members of the household.
Documentation must display:
> The applicant’s first and last name or qualifying dependent’s first and last name
> The applicant’s annual total household gross income
> A date within the most recent 12 months
Acceptable Eligibility Documentation Examples:
> Tax return for the most recent tax year. The documentation must display:
- The applicant’s annual gross income for the prior tax year
- Identify the applicant as the taxpayer and not as a claimed dependent
- Tax forms from the prior tax year are acceptable until April 15th of the current year (Example: a W2 for the 2023 tax year is acceptable income proof through April 15, 2025)
> Pay stubs displaying dates within the most recent twelve (12) months, for the most recent three calendar months.
> SSA-1099 or a Social Security Benefit Letter issued by the Social Security Administration dated within the last 12 months. Note: This is for Social Security disability, retirement, and/or survivorship benefits not Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSI verification documents qualify an applicant under the Program-based qualification method.
