California Medicaid Verification Process

When applying in California and submitting Medicaid proofs to apply for the Safelink benefit, a new process will take place, where the CIN#/Member ID number from the card will have to be verified.

CIN #

The Medi-Cal Client Index Number (CIN#) is a unique identifier assigned to each individual enrolled in California's Medicaid program. This number is used to track a beneficiary's information and services within the Medi-Cal system.

MEMBER ID #

If you do not find the CIN# in the Medi-Cal card, take a look at the Member ID# or any other one that follows the same format than the CIN#.

Format

1> The CIN# consists of 8 numeric characters(the first one being a 9) followed by 1 alpha character.

2> It can also be composed of 10 numeric characters.

3> In some cards, the CIN# may be preceded or followed by other characters, so make sure to follow the guidelines from points 1 and 2.

Note: if the CIN#/Member ID#is surrounded by additional characters, it will be considered valid as long as the CIN#/Member ID# is correct.
